I recently attended Teresa Berg’s Dog Shots, a delightful dog photography workshop. Teresa Berg is a photographer with a studio in Addison, Texas. She is known for her work with local animal rescue charities.

The lecture part of the workshop took place in her studio in the morning. Lunch was brought in for us around noon then we proceeded to go outside to apply what we had learned on the dog models. Before we went outside we did a little in studio natural light practice on Teresa’s own practically perfect chihuahua model, Nunu.

Nunu

Our first model was a puppy named Pandah. It was so hard for me to get a good shot of him because he didn’t sit still for a second. But I managed to catch this moment:

The next model was Pippa. She was a doll. Here are my favorite ones of her:

One of the biggest things I learned from this workshop is that when you are working with dogs you ALWAYS need an assistant. For safety, the dog should always be on a leash when outside. Pippa’s leash was digitally removed in these photos. I did not remove Pandah’s and Nunu was in the studio.

Teresa also hosts an in studio workshop in the summer when it is not so nice to be outside in Texas. I would highly recommend attending any of her workshops. She is a talented photographer and helpful instructor.
