I recently had the honor of shooting senior portraits for Lovejoy High School Senior, Allie. This session was a fun adventure! Allie wanted something different from the usual senior session and she was looking for a retro vibe. She booked my Premier package so we had 3 hours of shooting at 3 different locations. Her preferred 3 locations were a record store, a greenhouse/florist and a roller rink. We managed to hit two of the three.

After Allie had her hair and makeup done by Makeup By Donna, we headed down to Good Records on Lower Greenville. It’s one of the more popular record stores in Dallas and has a definite retro vibe. The listening stations bring back the feel of the old record stores from the 70’s so we had to get some shots of Allie listening to tunes. Then she changed into her retro Led Zeppelin tee-shirt and red hat for the browsing through records shots.

From there we ventured into downtown Dallas to Ruibals Plants of Texas near the Dallas Farmers Market. Ruibals takes up an entire city block! It’s huge. The Dallas skyline provided a unique backdrop. We could have spent the whole session there. There were so many beautiful spots for portraits and the staff encouraged us to take as many photos as we wanted. I think we got some of our best shots there.

After Ruibals we headed down to the Kessler Park area to shoot outside of the Kessler Theater. The light wasn’t quite right yet at the front of the Kessler but nearby was a Marilyn Monroe mural so we snapped a few shots there and waited for the sun to set. We ended the session there with the Allie “peace out” shot in front of the Kessler Theater doors.

It was a great session and everything was pretty perfect. We couldn’t have asked for better weather. Hope to book more sessions like this in the future.
