I recently completed a couple of fashion photography courses. One was The Fashion Series and the other was The Business of Fashion Photography. Both by Lara Jade. In the course I learned how to put together a fashion shoot and I was inspired to put together a shoot of my own.

I knew I wanted to use Isabela Becker for a model. I have worked with her before and really enjoyed it. She’s a full time college student who loves to do some amateur modeling on the side. It was just a matter of coordinating our schedules. She’s a busy woman!

Then I started researching clothing brands that I liked. One of the brands was Cabi Clothing. I have a client that is a Cabi Clothing stylist and I was inspired by some of the pieces she was wearing in our sessions. I love how a lot of the pieces in their collections mix and match allowing you to create looks that are uniquely your own. Plus the company itself is amazing! Check them out here: Cabi Clothing Online.

Once I had decided on a clothing brand I knew that I would want my client Barbara Crouch, the Cabi stylist, be the wardrobe stylist for the shoot. We worked together on the outfits we wanted to include. I emailed Cabi Clothing to ask about borrowing pieces for the shoot. They were more than happy to provide us with all of the pieces we needed to make our vision come to life.

I knew I wanted the location to be in a natural light studio and there are several to choose from in the Dallas area. But The TX Studio has those awesome south facing windows and I love natural light from the south. Plus they have an Oliphant Backdrop available to rent and cement floors that look great in photos. I didn’t need a lot in the way of props because I wanted to keep the set simple so that the clothing would be the focus. The TX Studio was ideal for that look.

Next I asked one of my favorite local photographers for hair and makeup artist recommendations. One of his favorites is Janet Herrera. I loved the work she was doing on younger models so I reached out to her. I wanted to recreate the makeup look from Tom Fords fall 2020 show and Janet did an outstanding job with that!

Finally I decided that this would be a great opportunity to get some behind the scenes footage of me at work so I started looking for a videographer. I posted on the Dallas Girl Gang Facebook page and The 96 Twins answered. Boom. I checked them out and they rocked! Plus you get two cute ladies that are too cute! Shena & Shira Pridgett. They were such a delight to work with! You can see a portion of the video that they did at the end of this post.

Below is the mood board and a couple of photos for each look that we put together. Hope you enjoy!
